Hello everyone!!
so many things have happened that I think the best will be to simply post pictures with brief descriptions on them, starting by Navaratri's Festival, the most important in Mysore!!!
Navaratri means "9 nights" and refers to these 10 days and 9 nights in which we adore the Divine Mother, this is, every night we worship a different feminin aspect of God, I think. It started 10 days ago and it finished yesterday. Last Friday I travel to the "Art of Living" Ashram close to Bangalore. This is an organization funded by one these Indian gurus but in this case, I've had the chance to personally meet with him (in Montreal) and learn about his breathing and relaxation techniques, that I openly recommend because they're making me feel very balanced and healthy. Anyway, what I saw there was so overwhelming that I cannot simply summarize it here, so that will go to a different chapter.
Here in Mysore, the festival is simply grandious. As you may be able to see in the video, the palace is illuminated by thousands of bulbs during these 9 nights. The entrance is free and there are several concerts every day and fireworks, as well as family events and meals, sweets, prayers and blessings of all types, flowers in every corner of the city, promotions in the supermarket -too bad I dind't have my camera when the local band got into the market playing so loud those strident instruments- literally, a grand display. The festival is crown by an elephant's parade that runs through the city, starting at the palace. It seems to be worthy but I truly couldn't gather enough energies to make it. The crowd is overwhelming, the noise is simply excessive, I can't understand how they find it enjoyable. And I couldn't bear with this last day. But I may get pictures of the parade and will send them to you!
In the meantime, here you have some of my pictures (the video will go in a different post):
